Chicago Mayor Playing Games Amid Migrant Arrivals

The Biden administration’s utter indifference for the problems at the southern border continues. As a result of Joe Biden’s removal of the immigration restrictions that former President Trump had put in place, migrants can now enter the country at will.

While some are apprehended by law enforcement, many more are successful in entering the nation. Due to the federal government’s inaction, border states are taking action on their own to prevent being entirely overrun.

Sending refugees to sanctuary cities like Chicago, New York, and Washington, DC, is an important move.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) of Chicago has stated outright that she would be pleased to accept migrants from Texas and Arizona. Her actions, however, once these refugees had already landed in Chicago, paint a totally different picture.

Lightfoot recently proclaimed to the media with pride that Chicago is a sanctuary city that welcomes all people.

Lightfoot even made fun of Texas, claiming she was glad to have immigrants settle in her area since she wouldn’t want to live in a state with a governor like Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R).

However, after the cameras ceased recording, the mayor of Chicago ordered the transportation of migrants who had just arrived from Texas to a hotel in Burr Ridge, Illinois. Lightfoot didn’t even bother to inform Burr Ridge Mayor Gary Grasso (R) of the migrants traveling to his city, adding insult to injury.

Ironically, Lightfoot transferred migrants from Chicago to Burr Ridge after criticizing Abbott for bringing them there without her approval.

Abbott’s choice to send refugees to sanctuary cities has shown the real nature of these communities’ leaders.

Since they are not required to put their words into practice, Lightfoot and others find it simple to claim that their cities are inclusive of all individuals. Similar to Republicans, Democrats don’t care about the perils of illegal immigration unless those dangers threaten their own communities.
