Ocasio-Cortez May Face Extreme Legal Action

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has a huge number of young liberals and liberal lawmakers in Congress who support her. She uses social media to promote her ideas, which often include helping LGBTQ+ people and making government programs bigger. AOC said that a well-known conservative TikTok user was spreading false information and lying at a recent committee hearing about why Twitter hid the Hunter Biden laptop story in 2020. Now, that person has used The Heritage Foundation to file an ethics complaint against the lawmaker.

During a House Oversight and Accountability hearing on February 8, AOC asked Twitter’s former Head of Trust and Safety Yoel Roth if she knew that the Libs of TikTok account had shared “false information” about Boston Children’s Hospital performing hysterectomies on transgender kids. Roth said she had seen the post.

But the Libs of TikTok post in question, which says that Boston Children’s Hospital did, in fact, perform gender transition surgeries on kids under the age of 18, was backed up by claims from the hospital’s website. Dr. Frances Grimstad, who worked there, said the same thing in quotes.

The founder of Libs of TikTok has filed a complaint against AOC.

On March 30, the person who made Libs of TikTok, Chaya Raichik, and a representative from The Heritage Foundation went to AOC’s office to give her an official ethics complaint. During a committee hearing, the person in the media said she had lied about an American citizen. The complaint says that AOC “knowingly and intentionally” spread false information about Raichik, according to the Washington Examiner. The lawmaker’s response was shared on Twitter by Libs of TikTok:

At first, AOC seemed glad to pose with Raichik for a picture. But when the lawmaker found out who the person was, she quickly said, “You’re actually very transphobic, and I never want to be in the same room with you,” before storming away.

The Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) is already looking into AOC’s trip to the Met Gala in March 2021, where she accepted many gifts, including a dress with “Tax the Rich” written on the back and matching accessories. Even though she paid for it and other services that night in the end, she may have broken rules set by Congress. From here on out, it will be up to the OCE to take legal action for either of these complaints.
