Amtrak Potentially Being Used For Illegal Immigrants To Cross Border
There are rumors that the Biden administration is about to transport unauthorized immigrants from some points along the US-Mexico border utilizing Amtrak.
President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security intends to use hard-earned taxpayer funds to finance the transportation of illegal aliens from the border to enter the country, according to 19 House Republicans.
The large increase in border crossings is attributed by the House Transportation Committee to Biden’s urgent desire to repeal Title 42, which has prompted GOP lawmakers to emphasize the need of disclosing the president’s plans.
Republicans warned Biden in a letter to Amtrak officials that if immigration checks are overrun with new arrivals, it will worsen the situation at the border if he uses their transportation services for processing.
“We are concerned about the impact that a significantly greater border surge could cause to your services and the potential use of Amtrak in the Administration’s response to its self-created border crisis. Such a situation would cause disruptions for Amtrak customers as well as interrupt freight traffic that could further exacerbate the supply chain crisis would also constitute an unconscionable use of significant amounts of taxpayer funds and resources to aid in the vast movement of illegal migrants into American communities,” the letter stated.
The Republicans expressed their grave worry over the exploitation of Amtrak’s resources to transport illegal immigrants.
“We are deeply concerned that Amtrak’s resources – especially those supporting the Sunset Limited route – will be used to transport these undocumented persons. Such a situation would cause disruptions for Amtrak customers as well as interrupt freight traffic that could further exacerbate the supply chain crisis. Such actions would also constitute an unconscionable use of significant amounts of taxpayer funds and resources to aid in the vast movement of illegal migrants into American communities,” the GOP’s letter read.
This week, the Customs Border and Protection (CBP) reported that 1.946 million interactions with illegal immigrants have occurred so far this fiscal year, with roughly 200,000 of those occurring only in July.
