Chris Cuomo Is Now Looking To Sue CNN

Sources told The Post that Chris Cuomo, a fired CNN host, is set to sue the network for refusing to pay him $18 million to make up the difference on what remains on his contract.

Cuomo (51) has hired lawyers to prepare to file the lawsuit over the remaining four-year contract that he signed last January — following a bitter back and forth about the network’s knowledge of his secret attempts to help his brother, the former Gov. According to sources familiar with the matter, Andrew Cuomo has hired lawyers and is preparing to file the lawsuit over the remainder of his four-year contract.

Sources said that his contract was worth $6 million each year, leaving him owing between $18 million to $20 million. Chris Cuomo would likely also seek damages.

An insider claimed that CNN does not intend to pay Chris Cuomo a penny.

“If he gets a settlement, there would be uproar,” the source added.

Another source stated that CNN has a standard morality clause within their contracts which states that if an employee is disrepute, they can be fired immediately.

Chris Cuomo was canned on Saturday, just four days after was suspended due to information in a trove released by Letitia James as part of her investigation into sexual harassment claims that caused Andrew Cuomo to resign.

Sources said that Cravath, Swaine & Moore lawyers told CNN that the documents provided legal grounds for CNN to fire “Cuomo Prime Tim” star Andrew for contacting “sources,” about plans to report on his brother, and also trying to find out information on at least one of Andrew’s accusers.

Sources said that the lawyers’ position came before a planned internal CNN probe into an unspecified sexual misconduct claim against Chris Cuomo, which was received by the network last week.

Chris Cuomo’s spokesperson insists that “These apparently anonymous allegations are not true.”

A spokesman for Chris Cuomo said that CNN President Jeff Zucker knew the details of Mr. Cuomo supporting his brother. He added, “There were not secrets about this, as can other individuals than Mr. Cuomo attest.”

CNN responded by slamming its former 9 p.m. Weekday host and saying that “He has made a number of accusations that are patently false.”

“This reinforces why he was terminated for violating our standards and practices, as well as his lack of candor,” the network continued.

CNN Insiders on Monday called Cuomo’s claims “absurd” and “patently false.”
