SoCal Doctor Indicted on Multiple Felonies for Poisoning Her Husband with Drano
A dermatologist allegedly used Drano to poison her spouse last year, and she was charged on Wednesday.
Yue Yu, a 45-year-old dermatologist, was seen on camera last July adding Drano to her husband’s lemonade.
Radiologist Dr. Jack Chen and medical doctor Yue Yu, popularly known as “Emily,” have been married for ten years.
After Dr. Chen tasted a chemical taste in his lemonade, had gastritis, and was later diagnosed with ulcers, he decided to install cameras in the couple’s kitchen.
Chen got concerned that his wife might be poisoning him, and soon, she was caught on camera putting Drano in his drink.
Dr. Chen’s attorney, Steven Hittelman, stated “She takes up the bottle, she pours it in, puts the cap back on and puts it back under the sink as though nothing else was happening in her day.”
Dr. Chen claimed that for years, both his wife and mother-in-law had been abusing him.
In a statement, Dr. Yu refuted the claims through her attorney David Wohl.
“Ms. Emily Yu vehemently and unequivocally denies ever attempting to poison her husband or anyone else. As a well-respected physician, her goal has always been to help people and never to harm people. Accordingly, she also strongly denies her husband’s claims of abusing him and their children emotionally and physically.”
According to a statement from Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer, Dr. Yu was indicted on three felony counts of poisoning and one felony offense of domestic assault with corporal injury.
“Our homes should be where we feel the safest. Yet, a licensed medical professional capitalized on her husband’s daily rituals to torment her husband by systematically plying his tea with a Drano-like substance intending to cause him pain and suffering.”
