Cruz Blames Biden For France’s Support Of China

On Twitter, US Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) blasted President Joe Biden and his foreign policy, alleging that this led France, America’s first and most steadfast friend, to back China’s Communist Party (CCP).

Cruz’s tweet took reference to comments made by French President Emmanuel Macron pushing France and Europe to oppose US backing for Taiwan. In an interview with the French newspaper Les Echos and Politico Europe, Macron made the statements that were published.

“The question we need to answer, as Europeans, is the following: is it in our interest to accelerate (a crisis) on Taiwan? No. The worst thing would be to think that we Europeans must become followers on this topic and take our cue from the U.S. agenda and a Chinese overreaction. We, Europeans, must wake up. Our priority is not others’ agendas in all regions of the world,” Macron stated in an interview.

Cruz responded by describing Macron’s remarks as “stunning,” claiming that the European leaders Biden has “courted” are defrauding the US.

Senators from other states joined Cruz in denouncing Macron’s remarks. U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) pushed other European nations to be open about their goals and questioned Macron on if his comments represented all of Europe.

The Biden administration emphasized that there was tight coordination between the US and France while ignoring any potential hidden significance in Macron’s remarks.

John Kirby, a spokesperson for the White House National Security Council, said the two nations have excellent bilateral relations and collaborate to help Ukraine and maintain peace in the Indo-Pacific region.

During recent military drills throughout the island, China simulated combined precision attacks on Taiwan. Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Joseph Wu criticized China’s activities and warned that conflict with Taiwan was imminent in an interview with CNN.

A day after Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen’s return from a 10-day trip to Central America and the US, during which she met with US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), China began the drills.

The US and Japan would also suffer deaths in a Chinese invasion of Taiwan, according to a war game simulation by the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

The simulation estimated that, disregarding deaths that may occur in areas like the South China Sea, the US military would lose more than 3,200 personnel in the first few weeks of the conflict.

In the first three weeks of its invasion, China reportedly suffered the highest losses, losing up to 10,000 people. A Chinese invasion of Taiwan might pave the way for World War III, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
