Biden Approval Rating Falls To New Low

According to a Reuters-Ipsos poll released this week, President Biden’s approval rating has slipped to 40%, a new low for the president.

In the midst of soaring inflation and tensions precipitated by Moscow’s deadly invasion of Ukraine, Biden had a 54 percent disapproval rating in the poll.

Biden’s approval ratings have dropped 3 points in the last week, and they have been steadily declining since mid-August, when COVID-19 casualties began to rise and the United States departed from Afghanistan.

The economy was the top concern among survey respondents, with the situation in Ukraine coming in second.

According to Reuters, 77 percent of Democratic respondents approved of Biden’s work performance in office, compared to 10% of Republicans and 27% of independents.

A total of 1,005 persons participated in the poll, with 432 Democrats and 366 Republicans. It was done between March 21 and 22 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4%.

Biden’s dismal approval ratings are comparable to those of former President Donald Trump at this point in his reign.

Trump also received 40 percent approval in March of his second year in office, up from 33 percent in December 2017, according to Reuters.

With the midterm elections coming up in November, these survey results could be troubling for Democrats hoping to keep their slim majorities in the House and Senate.
